Hartford Mayor Presentation 2nd Generation Colt Single Action Army
Extremely interesting 2nd Generation Single Action Army presented by Hartford Mayor James Kinsella to Mayor George Dietrich of Offenbach, Germany in 1958. Kinsella’s relationship to Dietrich is unclear, however, Colt factory records also show several other Single Actions intended for presentation from Kinsella to other foreign mayors during this time period, including the mayor of Rio de Janeiro, West Berlin, and also a presentation to then Senator Lyndon Johnson. The purpose of these presentations is unknown.
Revolver exhibits a high percentage of its original nickel finish, with some fine scratches and some minimal finish loss on the backstrap near the presentation inscription. Revolver is mechanically sound. Butt of gun contains small import mark.
Included Colt Archive letter indicates shipment to Mayor Kinsella, but does not mention inscription. The inscription is plated over, showing it was done prior to application of finish, and is of a typical inscription style used by Colt at this time.
