(Sale Pending) Colt Model 1860 Army Revolver Serial # 35

(Sale Pending) Colt Model 1860 Army Revolver Serial # 35

Extremely scarce, early, and unusually configured Model 1860 Army with short stock & roll engraved cylinder. Revolver retains trace blue & color case finish, with nearly no evidence of corrosion. Revolver has a scarce set of characteristics confirmed by factory letter, including “short” Navy stock, 7 ½” barrel, and silver plated backstrap & trigger guard. Additionally, this revolver has the first model roll engraved cylinder without patent date marking. Barrel address has been worn down or removed, however, space between the dashes on barrel indicate a Hartford, CT barrel address, correct for the first model.

Revolver has all matching numbers, including frame, trigger guard, backstrap, wedge, and behind grips, all shown in photos. Trigger guard has “G” on left rear & “2” on the forward bow.

Revolver is mechanically functional, however, some evidence of hand or hand spring.

Pate’s “The Colt 1860 Army Revolver” estimates that approximately 100 of the short Navy stock, three-screw, first models were produced.

Overall, an extremely interesting early two-digit serial numbered Colt Model 1860 Army with factory letter confirmed characteristics, remaining in nearly all original condition with the exception of the barrel address. This revolver is a fantastic addition to any percussion Colt collection, or for any collection focused on early production & low serial numbered Colts.
